Kaleidoscope, Edge Health and Cambridgeshire and Peterborough STP shortlisted for HSJ Partnership Awards

Kaleidoscope Health and Care, Edge Health and Cambridgeshire and Peterborough sustainability and transformation partnership (STP) have been shortlisted for the 'Best Consultancy Partnership with the NHS' category for their work establishing digital diabetes care services.

The awards recognise outstanding contribution to healthcare in what has been an exceptional and challenging period across the sector. Following an in-depth judging process, Kaleidoscope and Edge were shortlisted ahead of the official awards ceremony on 24 March.

Standing out among tough competition, the project was selected for its ambition, vision and the demonstrable positive impact on patient and staff experiences.

The Cambridgeshire and Peterborough STP wanted support to deliver a digital service to improve diabetes remission and care. Kaleidoscope worked in partnership with Edge Health, staff and patients to identify the key areas where they could create real change.

As a result of the original pilot scheme, three primary care networks improved their process performances (Ely South PCN, Ely North PCN and Octagon North PCN) and more than 400 additional patients received care. The model has now been rolled out to a further four areas (Cambridge City, Fenland, Central Thistlemoor and Peterborough Partnerships).

Clare Allcock part of the team at Kaleidoscope who managed the project said:

“We are delighted to have been shortlisted. Kaleidoscope has a mission to bring people together to improve health and care in a way that empowers staff and patients as well as improves services. It’s really lovely to see all the hard work with our fantastic partners at Edge Health and in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough recognised like this.”

Rob Murphy, North Alliance Programme Director at Cambridgeshire and Peterborough CCG and STP, said:

“We are very happy to see this work shortlisted. It was great working with Kaleidoscope and Edge Health, and the project has left us with transformed ways of working. The benefits can already be seen in improvements in our treatment targets but the real value is for our patients. People get better services and they are staying healthier for longer.”

Jennifer Connolly, from Edge Health, said:

“It’s an honour to be shortlisted for this award. At Edge Health we connect data with people so they can understand problems better.  Working with Cambridgeshire and Peterborough and Kaleidoscope on the project was particularly rewarding because that insight was being translated into tangible benefits for the community so readily.”

The judging panel for the awards was made up of a diverse range of highly influential and respected figures within the healthcare community, including Dr Matt Aiello (National Programmes Lead, Education Reform, Health Education England); Dr Elena Bechberger (National Programme Director – LVHC Programme, NHS England and NHS Improvement); Claire Igoe (Head of Environmental Sustainability – Manchester University FT) and Vinice Thomas (Director of Nursing and Quality, NHS England and NHS Improvement).

The full list of nominees for the HSJ Partnership Awards 2022 can be found on the awards website.

The selected winners will be announced during the awards ceremony at Westminster Park Plaza, London on 24 March 2022.
