Heather Shearer

Heather Shearer is part of our family of Associates.

Heather supports people who work in health and care services to develop themselves and their services.

She works with two medical schools to bring the Change curriculum into undergraduate medical education. This innovative curriculum involves partnerships with third/voluntary sector organisations, with multiple health boards and universities and specialists in diverse themes relating to change (leadership, quality improvement, service learning, informatics, public health and prescribing).

She also works with postgraduate trainees and fully qualified professionals who are learning to apply quality improvement approaches.

Heather is a qualified executive coach and facilitator and has clients from a wide range of professional backgrounds and levels of seniority. Her PhD is in Psychology from the University of Durham.

She spent more than 15 years working in a variety of roles in the NHS – in England and Scotland, local and national. She was a member of the Advisory Council to Slaintecare, a major programme to support a hugely ambitious re-design of healthcare in Ireland.

Heather lives in Edinburgh with her family and tries to keep fit through a combination of walking, running, CrossFit and yoga.
