Kaleidoscope develops clinical and professional leadership with Our Healthier South East London

Kaleidoscope is working with Our Healthier South East London (OHSEL), an integrated care system, to support their vision of creating a vibrant community of clinical and professional system leaders.

The three month project runs until the end of spring 2021. The aim is to create an engaging strategy that gives local leaders agency to innovate and work across healthcare boundaries so they can improve health services.

The programme of work covers three areas:

  • Engagement – Engaging the wide variety of clinical and professional system leadership across south east London through interviews, surveys and digital meetings.
  • Inspiration – Hosting a series of inspiration workshops, examining creative approaches to healthcare system leadership across UK and internationally. This area will also draw inspiration from organisations outside healthcare and generate ideas for what the future of clinical and professional system leadership for south east London could be.
  • Governance – Providing recommendations for a governance structure that is flexible and enabling but which fulfils the systems obligations.

Dr Jonty Heaversedge, Integrated Care System executive member and current Clinical Chair, NHS Southwark Clinical Commissioning Group said:

“We decided to work with Kaleidoscope because of their considerable expertise in developing strategy. We particularly liked their approach to building strong relationships across systems through a culture of collaboration, learning and improvement.

“The challenge in the pandemic is that there isn’t a clinical or professional leader in the area who is feeling under worked. We had to choose a team which understands healthcare and the pressures professional and clinical leaders are under, but could also engage and inspire them too. In south east London we have some really excellent health services, but by doing this work to develop a community of clinical and professional leaders we can achieve so much more.”

Chloe Hellier, part of the team at Kaleidoscope said:

“Our Healthier South East London has an ambitious vision for local clinical and professional system leadership and we are really delighted to be working with them to realise it. This is the sort of project that we love because it is so firmly rooted in the impact it wants to make. It will bring together a community of expertise from across south east London to deliver a strategy that is shaped around the local people and what matters to them.”
