Our work

What’s happening?

This page is for people that work at Homerton to find out what is happening and how they can get involved. If you want to find out about the engagement activities for patients, members of the community and ICS partners please go to the Homerton website.

We have a lot to be proud of as an organisation and that has helped us deal with the challenges of Covid-19 over the last two years and work well in collaboration with our system partners. Covid-19 has changed how we work and offer care as a Trust, how we work in and with our communities, and how we work together with our partner providers, primary care, social care services, local councils, charities, and others in City and Hackney and across North East London.

As we start to recover from the pandemic, we need to get back to working in a long-term and structured way so that we can continue doing our best for our patients, our communities and our people. There are also emerging opportunities from the changes in healthcare legislation that require us to work with partners as part of a North East London system. Against this landscape, there is no better time for us to look to our future as Homerton Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.

We will also need you. As someone who works at Homerton Healthcare we want you to help create our long-term plan; our Homerton Healthcare strategy that will shape our future together.

Over the coming weeks and months we will be asking you, our people, to shape the strategy that will guide what we do over the next five years to better support you, our patients, our communities, and our partners, and how we do it. We will also ask our patients, communities, and partners across health and social care in City and Hackney and North East London.

We will invite you to share your thoughts so that we can

  • Be clear about our values – we have a set of organisational values for Homerton University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, but are they right for Homerton Healthcare and the world we’re in now? How has our experience of Covid-19 changed what we think about them?
  • Be clear about our direction – where do we want to go as Homerton Healthcare, and how will we know when we get there? How do we want to talk about ourselves, and hear others talk about us?
  • Be clear about our priorities – which of the opportunities and challenges that we face do we need to focus on? How do we make sure we are here for everybody that needs us? How do we make the tough decisions, even where there may not be a ‘right’ answer?

The process of shaping our strategy is one we want to get right and we know we can’t do this without the people central to Homerton Healthcare: all our people who work here, our patients, our communities and our partners. We will give the process the time it needs, focusing on these questions across the spring and through to the summer. We will also do this openly, and be transparent about where we need to improve and committed to exploring how things could be better, keeping you involved throughout.

We want to have meaningful conversations with all the people who work at Homerton, our patients, our communities and our partners. Over the next few weeks there will be a series of events, surveys and activities to reach out across the organisation, so you can get involved and be part of shaping our future together.
