What is the Connect Leadership Group?

The Connect Leadership Group will be a representative group of colleagues from across south east London who will play a key role in creating a more connected health and care system, building on the efforts of the community during 2022.

Together, they will lead the continued development of the ‘Connect community’ of south east London system leaders over a 12-month period.

Anyone working in health and care is eligible to be a member.

The group will be a team made up of between 8 and 12 people, from all parts of the health and care system. It’s really important we have a mix of skills, backgrounds, sectors, organisations and professions represented.

Their task is to shape the strategic direction for Connect and engage with and broaden the 400-strong Connect membership base.

Why join the Connect Leadership Group?

Working with a dedicated development partner, the group will co-design and co-deliver initiatives to increase the number and quality of connections across boundaries in service of working together to deliver kinder, more equitable care for south east Londoners.

Members will also deepen their system leadership practice, learning through peer-to-peer activities and group coaching in core system leadership skills, for example developing and sustaining thriving networks and building trust across boundaries.

Who can be in the group?

Anyone from organisations that contribute to health and care in south east London can apply to be part of the group, regardless of role, level or department or whether you work part or full time.

We are actively seeking a mixed group of backgrounds to reflect the range of skills and views we have in our workforce.

We are serious about making participation in the group as accessible as possible by prioritising flexibility. You don’t need permission to be part of the group; however, please inform your manager that you are applying.

How much commitment is needed?

Each member of the group is expected to commit to a 2-hour monthly workshop, and supplementary discretionary reading and thinking time to progress the work of the group flexibly in between meetings.

Members will also participate actively in the events and activities designed and delivered for the wider Connect membership base.

What skills and qualities are needed?

No specific formal qualifications are required, and members will be at a variety of different stages in their careers. Above all, we want people who are passionate and curious about how connection can create a kinder, more equitable health and care system. We’ll be seeking people who can actively listen to and engage with colleagues of all levels and across boundaries, with good communications skills.

Finally, we’ll be seeking people who represent the diversity of our sectors, organisations and professions, and who are committed to equity and inclusion.
